Introducing Design for Healthcare Environments Ireland (DHEI)

Design for Healthcare Environments Ireland (DHEI) is a new specialist conference and exhibition dedicated to improving mental health, intellectual disability (ID) and autism environments through thoughtful, co-produced and evidence-informed design.

Bringing together clinicians, estates professionals, architects, service providers, regulators, people with lived experience, manufacturers and policy stakeholders, DHEI will explore how environments can improve safety, dignity, wellbeing and recovery.

Why Ireland – and Why Now?

Ireland is entering a major period of healthcare infrastructure investment under the National Development Plan 2021-2030, with increasing emphasis on community-based care, CAMHS expansion, intellectual disability residential developments and the modernisation of existing mental health facilities. Alongside this investment, expectations around safety, dignity and environmental standards continue to rise through the work of the Mental Health Commission and HIQA.

Despite growing demand’ to read: In response to growing demand and opportunity within the sector, DHEI will be the first event dedicated to serving the specialist mental health design, build and specification community in Ireland, creating a platform for healthcare providers, estates teams, designers and specialist suppliers to connect, share expertise and support the future development of mental health environments across the country.
